Getting to Gozo
Ferries, timings and pick-up
Our course days start at Mġarr Harbour at 10:00. Whether you are staying on Gozo or crossing from Malta that morning, here is how the journey works and what to allow for.
Getting here
Two ferries, one meeting point
Gozo is easily accessible from Malta by ferry. We arrange pick-up at the Mġarr ferry terminal according to the agreed schedule, so you can travel over on the day and be driven to the site.
Ċirkewwa → Mġarr ferry
The main passenger and vehicle ferry connection runs between Ċirkewwa in Malta and Mġarr Harbour in Gozo, with a crossing of around 25 minutes.
Valletta → Mġarr fast ferry
Travelling from Valletta? The Gozo Fast Ferry sails from Grand Harbour to Mġarr in about 45 minutes and docks steps from our pick-up point.
Pick-up at Mġarr Harbour
We meet you at Mġarr Harbour at 10:00 AM on course days, then drive to whichever site suits the conditions. This makes it easy for visitors staying in Gozo or travelling from Malta to join their session.
Confirm your meeting time
We recommend arranging your transport and meeting time with us before your course begins, so everything is agreed in advance.
Plan the crossing
How much time should you allow?
Course days meet at 10:00 at Mġarr Harbour in Gozo. If you are travelling from Malta on the day, take a ferry that lands you at least 20 minutes before that, so you have time to find the meeting point without rushing.
The Ċirkewwa to Mġarr ferry
The main car and passenger ferry sails from Ċirkewwa at the northern tip of Malta to Mġarr Harbour in Gozo, around 25 minutes on the water. It runs frequently through the day, and arriving by bus or car at Ċirkewwa is straightforward. Crossings are weather dependent, and in stronger winds the crossing can take longer.
The Valletta fast ferry
If you are based in Valletta or Sliema, the fast ferry from Grand Harbour takes about 45 minutes and arrives directly in Mġarr, a short walk from our pick-up point. It is the easiest option if you are travelling without a car.
Where we meet you
We meet at Mġarr Harbour and drive you to whichever site suits the conditions that day. That means you do not need to know the island, find the dive site or arrange your own transport — you simply arrive at the harbour on time, and we take it from there.
Staying on Gozo
If your course runs over several days, staying on Gozo removes the daily crossing entirely. Mġarr, Xlendi and Marsalforn are all within easy reach of the harbour and the sites we use most often. We are happy to suggest areas that make the mornings simple.
